Pockets break-in Nantwich

Masked raiders smashed their way in to the Pockets clothing store in Nantwich town centre and stole thousands of pounds of stock.

The three men used a crowbar to smash through the glass doors of the store on the corner of Pillory Street and Hospital Street at about 1am this morning.

They ransacked the store and grabbed thousands of pounds of men’s clothing before making off in a silver Renault Megane, Cheshire Police have confirmed.

Officers are at the scene today and CCTV images show the men were masked and armed with what looked like a crowbar.

The raid triggered the store’s burglar alarm which woke nearby residents who alerted police.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Three men entered the store with their faces covered, smashed the glass at the front, and stole clothing.

“Shop staff are doing a stock review to establish how much was taken.

“They escaped in a silver Megan.

“We are appealing for anyone with information to contact Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 39 of 25/1/18.”

One town centre worker told us: “A shop assistant told my colleague £1000s worth of stock has gone. They were masked and happened 1.10am.”
