Nantwich-based Paralympics star Andrew Small has been awarded the MBE in the New Year Honours list.

Small, a Paralympic sprint and middle distance athlete who won Gold at Tokyo, was honoured for services to athletics.

The former South Cheshire College student, of Park Road, will be racing at around 10.30am tomorrow (local time).

Thousands of people enjoyed the Nantwich Christmas Lights switch-on which lit up the town square last night (November 19).

Families young and old enjoyed live music and song, fair rides, refreshments and a firework display during the event.

Trampolinist silver medalist Page and wheelchair racing bronze medalist Small both went to Brine Leas School in Nantwich.
