Pupils, parents and staff in Cheshire East have been praised by education chiefs after figures showed attendance at fully open schools was more than 92%.
There were fears that many parents would continue to keep children off school amid the Coronavirus pandemic when classes restarted this week.

Fines for taking children out of school during term time have been slammed by parents – but MPs insist youngsters’ attendance is crucial.
It was revealed last week that the number of fines issued to parents in Cheshire in the first year following a high-profile court battle soared compared to previous years.
A Nantwich headteacher who has overseen the biggest rise in attendance over the last year, has paid tribute to his staff. Andrew Ross, head at Millfields Primary on Marsh Lane, said new “Attendance Award” weeks have helped to improve figures dramatically.
Nantwich primary children missed more than 16,300 school sessions between them in 2011-12, figures reveal. But attendance has improved in all but two primary schools in the area in the last three years, according to statistics.
