Nantwich-based The Cat community radio have handed over a cool £1,050 to Christie’s cancer charity – thanks to big-hearted listeners. Radio presenter Chris Anderton gave listeners a chance to nominate their favourite soul track on his show “A Dab of Soul”.
Organisers of this year’s Nantwich Jazz Blues & Music festival this Easter believe it will be the busiest – and safest – one yet. Tens of thousands of music fans are set to descend on the town for the five-day festival over the Easter weekend April 17 to 21.
Tickets are selling fast for next week’s Nantwich Words and Music Festival which features a string of big names. Venues across the town are staging live performances by musicians and wordsmiths throughout the festival, October 7 to 13.
Thirty youngsters enjoyed the annual fishing competition organised by Nantwich Police. PCSOs Nick Jarvis, Sharon Jones and Stuart Mortimer organised the event which took place at Coole Acre Fisheries, on Coole Lane, Nantwich.
A selection of paintings by the late Albert Jolly are to go on display at The Crown Hotel in Nantwich. The pictures will be on show from 9.30am on Thursday April 25 and Friday April 26.
Jools Holland could be on the bill when Nantwich Jazz, Blues and Music Festival celebrates its 20th year. That’s the hope of festival organiser Phillip Martin who believes luring Holland to the town is a real possibility.

Council chiefs are probing a gas blast in Nantwich town centre which left an elderly lady in hospital, it has emerged. The incident happened when a gas bottle being used on an outdoor barbecue stall on High Street exploded.
