Dear Editor,
I asked earlier this week: Is anyone else questioning the allocation of the dedicated schools grant, due to be ratified at next week’s CE’s Children & Families Committee? That meeting was held – and the answer is no.

Just to clarify the situation for everyone, the grant money has been allocated at three different rates based on deprivation factors.

Funding approved for new Nantwich skate park at Barony

Nantwich looks set to get a new skate park facility on the Barony after the project received a £100,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

The money will be used to create a multi-wheeled sports facility which will allow skateboarders, scooters, roller skaters and other park users access to an enormously improved facility at Barony Park.

A £5.799m government grant for potholes is welcome but “will not even begin to scratch the surface” of the £180m backlog of repair work, Cheshire East’s deputy leader said.

Cheshire East Council will drive ahead with scaled-back plans to improve bus services despite the government putting the brakes on some schemes by refusing grant funding.
