Cheshire East Council is embarking on a “transformation programme” to change the way the council operates and try to save £100 million over the next four years.
The cash-strapped council was recently granted exceptional financial support from the government to the tune of £17.6 million.
Cheshire East Council is unlikely to employ Boris Johnson’s Covid-secure “marshals” unless they are fully funded by Whitehall, says the authority.
The Prime Minister said last week that the so-called marshals would be used in towns and cities across the UK to help enforce the new ‘rule of six’ social distancing restrictions.
Some Cheshire East Council staff have suffered bullying and harassment, a new report into the authority’s working culture has revealed.
An independent review into the council shows while many staff don’t experience it, it is having a “profound impact” on those who do.
