Behaviour at CEC under Michael Jones “one of worst examples”

The behaviour and culture at Cheshire East Council under the leadership of Michael Jones is “one of the worst examples” the investigating auditors had ever come across, the council was told.

The public interest report, from the council’s former auditors Grant Thornton, referred to bullying and intimidation under the former Conservative leader, who stepped down in 2015.

The Grant Thornton report highlights a regime of “bullying” and “intimidatory behaviour” during Mr Jones’ time as leader between 2012-2015.

An auditor’s report into the culture of Cheshire East Council under the leadership of Michael Jones has revealed incidents of bullying and inappropriate behaviour.

Mr Jones, the council’s leader from 2012 until 2015, stepped down following controversy surrounding the awarding of contracts to Nantwich-based Core Fit – which was owned by his physiotherapist.

Blow for Stapeley campaign as Government reverses Muller Property ruling

New Local Government Communities Secretary Greg Clark has reversed a decision to dismiss Muller Property Group’s appeal over refusal for its “Nantwich South” development.

In March, Eric Pickles overruled a planning inspector and dismissed Muller’s appeal against Cheshire East Council, which had refused permission for 189 homes and an access road.
