Edwardian orphanage in South Cheshire to be converted to retirement flats

An Edwardian former orphanage described as a jewel in Crewe’s crown is set to be converted into retirement flats after standing empty for 12 years.

Cheshire East Council’s southern planning committee has given the go-ahead for Grade II-listed Webb House in Victoria Avenue, to be transformed into 54 extra care apartments with a swimming pool and gym – subject to final design tweaks being approved by planning officers.

Bunbury youngsters donate old school uniform to Uganda orphans

Big-hearted Bunbury children stopped their old school uniforms going in the bin – so they could donate them to an orphanage in Uganda.

The pupils worked together to collect more than 500 items of old uniform after Bunbury Aldersey CE Primary near Nantwich decided to change its outfit.

Nantwich worker raises funds for Romanian orphanage visit

A young Nantwich man is raising money for a visit to a Romanian orphanage. Daniel Redhead, who works at Richmond Village Nantwich, wants to travel there in July with charity Future Sense Foundation.
