Cheshire East Council is hoping to make a formal application for funding for a 3G pitch at a Crewe playing field next year – once it has secured a development partner.
The council says there is a shortfall of two 3G pitches within the Crewe area.
Nantwich Town are to host a festival of football for young players on the first team’s new 3G pitch at the Swansway Stadium.
The event starts on Saturday 23rd September and will run every Saturday from 9am to midday.

Nantwich Town Ladies’ run of pre-season victories continued with another dominant display in beating Altrincham Women 8-1.
It was the debut match for the Dabbers women on the new Swansway Stadium 3G artificial pitch.
Nantwich Town were beaten by an 89th minute Clitheroe winner in their first match on the new Swansway Stadium 3G artificial pitch.
More than 460 fans watched on as the Dabbers fell to a 2-1 defeat in an entertaining encounter.

Crewe & Nantwich came away from their second league game of the season in Midlands 1 West with a well deserved victory at Droitwich.
In what was a thoroughly entertaining match, played in near perfect conditions for rugby, Crewe ran out comfortable 34-5 victors.
Crewe & Nantwich Senior Academy made it seven wins in seven with a thumping 48-0 victory away at Preston Grasshoppers.
With the game being played on the RFU-funded AGP (plastic) playing surface, it took the Crewe players some time to adapt.

Nantwich Town’s Weaver Stadium ground has been selected in the final three for the Greenfields Pitch of the Season Award.
The Dabbers are up against South Shields and Bamber Bridge in the Premier Division with the chosen finalists selected by fellow clubs on an online vote.
George and Dragon hammered 13 passed Brighton Belle in the only Crewe Regional Sunday League game to survive the big freeze.
The match was able to go ahead after teams agreed to move it on to a 3G pitch with all other games off due to frozen grass surfaces.
