Care home bed availability for elderly people in Cheshire East is under strain due to the Covid-19 pandemic, figures show.
Public Health England data shows there were just 9.8 care homes beds per 100 people aged 75 and over in Cheshire East at the end of March.
A Leighton Hospital patient who tested positive for COVID-19 has died, the hospital trust confirmed today.
The man, who was in his 60s, had underlying health conditions.

Smoking is becoming much less common across Cheshire East according to new Government figures – but the council insists it will not rest on its laurels.
Figures released by Public Health England show that in 2018, 8.7% of adults across the borough were smokers, compared to 16.4% in 2017.
