CEC pay £50,000 to hire Crewe Hall rooms for public inquiry

Cheshire East paid nearly £50,000 to hire rooms at Crewe Hall Hotel for a two-week public inquiry for the Middlewich Bypass – including £1,980 for lunch for the planning inspector and legal experts.

The figures were revealed at a meeting of the audit and governance committee, leaving some councillors questioning why one of the council’s own buildings were not used.

Ruling on Muller Homes’ “Nantwich South” inquiry due in July

A Government decision on the controversial Muller Homes “Nantwich South” development in Stapeley is now expected in July. The Planning Inspectorate has revealed it is preparing  its recommendations to submit to the Secretary of State.

Parish council drops barrister plan for Muller Homes Nantwich inquiry

Parish councillors fighting the proposed Muller Homes “Nantwich South” development, have ditched plans to employ a barrister at a public inquiry. Stapeley Parish Council said it has made the decision on “the advice of its legal adviser”, but refused to clarify those reasons.

A public inquiry into a controversial plan to build a 1,100-home “Nantwich South” village in Stapeley is to be held on February 18. Muller Homes wants to build the development, which could include business units, shops and a school, on land between Peter De Stapleigh Way, London Road and Broad Lane.
