The Nantwich “road to nowhere” could finally be opened this summer – two and half years after its initial opening date!
The A51 spine road around Reaseheath was built more than two years ago by housing developers behind the massive Kingsbourne estate between the A51, Welshmen’s Lane and Waterlode.
Frustrated residents in Nantwich feel they are being left in the dark over the progress of the A51 spine road at Reaseheath.
The road, initially planned to be opened in February 2022, remains closed with work still to do on both connections points.
It looked like being the road to no where.
It was supposed to open 12 months ago but progress on the new A51 “spine road” around Reaseheath in Nantwich appeared to be at a standstill.

Delays to the opening, initially scheduled for February 2022, have been caused by concerns over lack of a crossing and suitable connected pathways between the town and Reaseheath College.

Work continues on the new spine road and Reaseheath bypass, with construction underway to clear the River Weaver floodplain.
Contractors McPhillips have also excavated a channel between the raised Kingsbourne spine road and Reaseheath bypass and the river next to Reaseheath roundabout.

The work is part of the Kingsbourne development agreement, with developers funding the improved infrastructure in Nantwich.
