Competitors find it tough going at World Worm Charming Championships

Competitors at the 39th World Worm Charming Championships in Willaston found it tough going today – with the winner charming out just 11 worms!

Dry weather and hard ground made it difficult for the hundreds of people taking part in the annual event in the grounds of Willaston Primary Academy on Derwent Close.

Pebbles from craft shops or public places are being painted with acrylic paints or permanent pens.

Willaston Primary to host Firework Extravaganza

Willaston Primary Academy will host a Firework Extravaganza on October 20.

The event, between 5.30pm and 7pm, will feature a professional firework display, as well as fairground rides, grill and bar and other entertainment.
