Hundreds of people twanged for fun at the latest World Worm Charming Championships in Willaston.
The 44th annual event took place in warm weather in the grounds of Willaston Primary Academy on Derwent Close.

The Willaston World Worm Charming Championship takes place on June 25 from 1pm-4pm.
Organisers are busy plotting the 40th World Worm Charming championships which take place in Willaston next month.
The event – now known worldwide – will once again take place in the grounds of Willaston Primary Academy near Nantwich.
Competitors at the 39th World Worm Charming Championships in Willaston found it tough going today – with the winner charming out just 11 worms!
Dry weather and hard ground made it difficult for the hundreds of people taking part in the annual event in the grounds of Willaston Primary Academy on Derwent Close.

Pebbleart participants are bringing a smile to Willaston residents – by painting rocks and then hiding them for strangers to find.
Pebbles from craft shops or public places are being painted with acrylic paints or permanent pens.
Willaston Primary Academy will host a Firework Extravaganza on October 20.
The event, between 5.30pm and 7pm, will feature a professional firework display, as well as fairground rides, grill and bar and other entertainment.
A Willaston family has scooped top honours at the 38th World Worm Charming Championships.

Worm charmers employed a range of tactics as they battled it out in the 37th World Worm Charming Championships in Nantwich.
And Willaston youngster Hope Smith came out on top by luring out 272 worms in 30 minutes.
