Stapeley Water Gardens site, London Road entrance

Full plans for a housing development on the old Stapeley Water Gardens site in Nantwich have been lodged with Cheshire East Council.

Nearby residents now have until May 16 to send in their objections or views on the controversial 146-dwelling plans from David Wilson Homes.

Many have already raised fears about more housing developments in the Stapeley area, citing road infrastructure, lack of school places and other services among concerns.

The existing access onto the site from London Road would be used, according to the plans.

Developers say the new homes would result in an extra 110-120 vehicles coming in and out during the peak morning and evening hours.

Different size homes are to be built, a mixture of apartments, mews, semi-detached and detached, but none higher than three storeys, according to the plans.

A series of studies has been undertaken, including flood risk, transport assessment, Great Crested Newt study, noise impact, air quality and sustainability surveys.

The application is likely to go before Cheshire East Council’s Strategic Planning Board in June or July.

If it gets the go ahead, work could start immediately, with the first homes constructed and ready by spring 2013.
