Draft Nantwich Town Strategy

Campaigners are urging residents in Nantwich to air their views on the town strategy plan before this Monday’s October 1 deadline.

Only around 300  have submitted views on the consultation, which outlines a plan for housing, infrastructure, jobs and services for Nantwich up to 2030.

Protect Stapeley say more need to submit comments, particularly over the mass housing development plans for Nantwich South.

Thousands of leaflets have been posted through letterboxes urging residents to complete forms and send them in to Cheshire East Council or to enter their comments online.

Protect Stapeley is campaigning to stop Muller Property Group going ahead with a 1,100-home development on green fields between Peter de Stapleigh Way, Audlem Road and London Road.

They cite adverse impact on traffic and pollution, poor access, environmental damage and loss of open space, and too much pressure on services such as schools, doctors and dentists as key reasons to object.

A Protect Stapeley spokesman said: “Our aim is to encourage as many people as we can to voice their objections to this potential development via the consultation between now and October 1.”

Residents can fill in the leaflets they have received and return them freepost to Spatial Planning, Cheshire East Council, Westfields, Middlewich Road, Sandbach, CW11 1HZ. Leaflets can be downloaded at www.protectstapeley.org.uk

  1. The Nantwich Town Strategy is about the whole town – not just Stapeley – so please please let’s have some considered views about the future of Nantwich. And some positive ideas for the town over the next 18 years – not simply objections to one of the many currently proposed housing developments. There are other things in life to worry about!
