Nantwich Litter Group volunteers

Nantwich Litter Group volunteers have been nominated in The Cat’s “Achievement of the Year” Community Awards 2013.

It’s a worthy nomination for a group who regularly hold litter picks to clean the town’s streets.

The group also hosted a get-together with other South Cheshire clean-up groups at Wheelock Hall Farm Cafe.

It was attended by representatives from Crewe Clean Team, Sandbach Clean Team, Middlewich Clean Team, Stapeley Parish Action Group, Wistaston Conservation Group and Streetscape, Cheshire East Council’s street cleansing department.

Topics discussed included the formation of local litter groups, organisation of litter picks, publicity through media and speakers, involvement of the community and fund raising.

The success of Middlewich and Sandbach Clean Teams, headed by Janet Chisholm BEM and Dick McCauley, provided encouragement for more recently formed groups.

All groups acknowledged the assistance and co-operation received from Streetscape.

Nantwich Litter Group will be holding their next Group Pick on Wednesday February 6, meeting at 12.15pm in Bowers Row car park (off Waterlode).
