Nantwich Museum is to stage a number of events over the next two weeks after welcoming special guests to the venue.
Mayor of Cheshire East Council Cllr Dorothy Flude visited the Pillory Street facility.
She was accompanied by Cheshire East Councillors Janet Clowes and Arthur Moran, and Nantwich Town Cllr Norma Simpson.
Robert Stones chairman of the Museum Trust, and Kate Dobson, the museum’s community development officer, showed the guests around the venue and some of the exhibitions and work currently ongoing.
Other museum trustees Patrick Chesters and Graham Dodd were also present.
The museum is once again busy with a series of events over the next two weeks.
The international 2013 Big Draw event comes to Nantwich next Saturday October 19, 10.30am to 4pm.
Part of the Family Arts Festival, the event is free and invites budding artists to drop in and imagine what the “Museum of the Future” will look like.
Objects will be available to provide inspiration as well as some interesting characters from the past and future.
Expert advice will be on hand and the artwork will feature in a special museum video.
The event is being supported by Cheshire East Council.
On October 23, a “Cheerbrook, Then and Now” talk is being hosted by Miranda Shufflebotham.
She will recount the story of Cheerbrook Farm to the shop of today, which reflects the trend towards locally produced food.
Such was the success of a farmers market, a shop was opened at the farm in 2000. Since then it has grown five times and now incorporates a cafe.
The talk forms part of the current “Nantwich Eats” exhibition, and will be held at 3pm on October 23.
Tickets cost £3, museum members £2, and are now available from the museum shop.
Nantwich Museum will also host half term workshops for youngsters.
Children can make their own puppets, take part in autumn crafts and try their hand at quizzes. There will also be story-time sessions.
The workshops are drop in between 11am and 3pm on October 23 and October 24. Storytime will be at 11am and 1pm on each day.
The cost is £2 a child who must be accompanied. Large groups are requested to book in advance.
