Nantwich Town have re-signed fans’ favourite Mat Bailey.

The towering defender has committed himself  to the Weaver Stadium on a permanent basis.

And he will go straight into the side to face Rushall Olympic at home tomorrow (Saturday January 18).

Bailey has been drafted in to replace short-term loanee Adam Jones who has returned to FC United.

Nantwich Town manager Danny Johnson said: “I’m delighted that Mat has decided to commit his immediate future to Nantwich Town.

“He is a magnificent player with great experience and just what we need at this stage of the season.

“We are on a good run of results in the league at present and the lads are working extremely hard to build on their recent performances and we want to finish as high as we possibly can in the league.

“Adam had done a fantastic job at centre half for us whilst on loan, but once he was recalled by FC United, there was only one player I wanted to fill that void.

“Mat wants to play regular football and obviously has such a passion and love for Nantwich Town Football Club that we were able to agree terms for him to join us permanently.”

Kick off against Rushall, who could include former Crewe Alex striker Dele Adebola, is 3pm tomorrow.
