Members of the public joined fire crews in rescuing a small cow from drowning in the River Weaver near Nantwich.

The incident happened on Over Road, in Church Minshull.

Firefighters from Crewe and Knutsford arrived to find a farmer and members of the public at the scene keeping the animal’s head above the water.

The cow was eventually pulled free using ropes and was handed back into the care of the farmer at around 8pm last night (July 6)

In a separate incident, fire crews were called out to a flooded kitchen in Peckforton.

They had to isolate electrics and used pumps to clear floodwater from the kitchen on Stone House Lane.

The elderly homeowner was not injured in the incident, which happened at about 6pm yesterday (July 6).
