Brad Inman scores for Crewe Alex at Nantwich Town

Nantwich Town will again welcome neighbours Crewe Alexandra for a pre-season friendly at the Weaver Stadium.

The Dabbers will take on Crewe on July 19, it was announced today by the League One outfit.

Kick off will be 2pm kick-off with ticket prices yet to be confirmed.

The match is the first confirmed friendly by The Alex, who preserved their League One status in the final game of the season just four days ago.

Nantwich welcomed Steve Davis’ men to the Weaver Stadium last summer in a game which saw the Alex run out 4-1 winners.

As well as Davis’ close links with Nantwich, a club he managed and led to successive promotions, Nantwich have also taken a number of Crewe players on loan.

And Nantwich’s new assistant coach Neil Sorvel is another former Alex favourite.

Meanwhile, Nantwich manager Phil Parkinson has already been busy with members of the existing squad and potential new signings lined up.

Newly crowned Players Player of the Year Andy White has committed his long term future to the club, signing a new two-year contract.

Andy said: “Everyone can see that the lads and supporters have been buzzing since Phil, Neil and Danny came in.

“I only wish that the season was continuing for a bit longer, as it was fantastic being part of the Nantwich team recently and the performances showed we can compete with the best in the league.

“So when Phil invited me to be part of his long term plans, I didn’t have to think very long about it and I am really excited about the future.”

Parkinson said: “I am extremely keen to get my player business done early.

“I appreciate certain players may become available over the next couple of months, but I am keen to reward those who demonstrated the quality we are after and most importantly their commitment to the club in the past, or immediacy so that we can start planning for the future with a settled squad.

“Andy is one of the players that epitomises these values, as he has been an ever-present in the first team over the past two seasons, delivering consistent quality performances and I am delighted that he has committed his long term future to us.”
