Student George Heath who died on A49 at tarporley

Tributes have flooded in from family and friends for a popular student who died after an accident on the A49 in Tarporley, near Nantwich.

George Heath, 20, died after a collision with a HGV lorry on the busy route between the A51 Rode Street junction and the Tarporley Road junction.

George, who studied Journalism at Staffordshire University, was walking at the time of the accident shortly before 8am on Friday March 4.

He had gone on Thursday night with friends in the Tarporley area, but when he didn’t return home a missing persons appeal was launched by his family on social media on Friday.

Soon after, news of the accident emerged.

His brother Harry and friends have paid tribute to the popular student.

Harry said: “It is with extremely heavy hearts the Heath Family need to share the loss of George Heath.

“In this absolutely devastating time for us, we take a small glimmer of warmth and pride from the level of support we have received in the last 24 hours via Facebook and from a number of close friends and family who are also coming to terms with the loss of a really great young man.

“To my incredible little brother, you will live on in our hearts and you will never be forgotten. We are lost without you. RIP George. We love you.”

Close friend Robbie Plank added: “Anyone who met George knew how much he meant to everyone, he lived life to the full and was full of beans.

“Words can’t begin to describe what a loss he will be to so many people.”

Friends gathered at the George and Dragon pub in Tarvin last night (March 5) to pay tribute.

Cheshire Police are investigating the accident and officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything in the run-up to the incident, or witnessed the collision itself.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident 155 of 4/3/16.
