A Nantwich research company is leading on a mental health project for NHS Eastern & South Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Groups.

STITCH Ltd, run by Willaston resident Kate Carney, is running the three-month project to canvass opinions and ideas from young people aged 11-19 across South Cheshire.

They are finding out about their experiences and expectations of existing mental health services with a view to transforming them.

It is the NHS CCG’s ambition for all children and young people to have a voice on key issues affecting them and their community.

Emma Leigh, mental health commissioning manager for NHS Eastern Cheshire CCG, said: “In July 2014, Cheshire East Children and Young People’s Trust agreed a strategy which sets out the commitment of partner agencies to respect and champion a child’s right to have a say.

“It is our collective responsibility to put this strategy into action.

“We have appointed STITCH Ltd to undertake this project as their experience and specialism with young people is extensive.”

Kate Carney, (pictured) of STITCH Ltd, added: “We are thrilled to be working on this project.

“This is a key project for children and young people as there is a continued rise of mental health concerns of young people across the region and nationally.

“It’s fantastic to be getting this underway with the NHS.”
