A Nantwich youngster has the chance to help Olympic stars Bryony Page and Andrew Small switch on the town’s Christmas lights.

Nantwich Town Council is to hold a competition for youngsters, with the winner going on stage alongside the Rio medal winners on the night of switch-on.

Thousands of people are expected to cram into the town centre for the big switch-on on November 19.

This year’s event has been supported by local businesses Applewood Independent and South Cheshire College.

They have teamed up with the council to run the competition.

Children from Nantwich or pupils of Nantwich schools under the age of 11 are invited to take part in the competition.

Entrants simply have to guess how many LED lights there are on the star which will top this year’s town Christmas tree (pictured below).

And a clue – there’s more than 800, but less than 3,800.

Entrants should send their answer, along with their name, age, and contact details to Sheryl Birtles, Nantwich Civic Hall, Nantwich, CW2 6JN or email [email protected]

All entries should be handed in no later than Friday November 4.
