Fair - father-christmas-and-assistant

The annual Cancer Research UK Christmas Fair raised more than £3,700 at Wistaston Memorial Hall.

The event was organised by the Crewe & Nantwich Cancer Research UK Group.

There were numerous stalls with cakes, chutneys, cheese and pickles, sweets, games, chocolate Santas, books, handbags, scarves, jewellery, toiletries, cards, candles, collectables, plants, a wine tombola, and a teddy tombola.

A tea room served drinks and snacks from the hall’s recently renovated kitchen.

Children were able to visit Father Christmas and receive a present from him.

More than £3,700 was raised at the event for Cancer Research UK.

Committee Chairman John Pass said: “A beautiful November day brought out record numbers to raise money for the Crewe & Nantwich Cancer Research UK Group.

“We give a big thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors and for everyone who came to support the event.”

Mayor of Crewe Cllr Marilyn Houston and Mayoress of Crewe Pauline Kowalski attended the event.

Cllr Houston said: “The Crewe & Nantwich Cancer Research UK Group have clearly worked very hard to put on the Christmas Fair and all for such a good cause.

“We hope they have raised lots of money from all their obvious efforts.”
