Nantwich CC closed the gap at the top of the Cheshire County Cricket Premier Division with a convincing 145-run victory away at Cheadle.

It leaves the Whitehouse Lane side in third place in the league, just 30 points behind leaders Chester Boughton Hall.

A superb 131 not out by Ryan Brown set up the convincing victory, as he powered 11 fours and 7 sixes in just 98 balls.

With good support from Henry Dobson (48) and Luke Robinson (22), Nantwich hit 242-6 off 42 overs.

Pick of the Cheadle bowlers was Rashid Amin, finishing on three for 29 from his 13 overs.

In reply, Cheadle were pegged back early by Nantwich’s fired-up attack bowlers.

Jimmy Warrington led the way, bowling out opener Nicholson for just four, then snapping up Greg Dixon and reducing Cheadle to 42-2.

The game was killed off in a brilliant spell of bowling by Oliver Griffiths and Warrington with Cheadle in 66 runs.

They took three wickets without a single run scored, dismissing dangerman Amin, Elliott Bullock and Henry Appleyard to reduce the hosts to 66-5.

Griffiths and Warrington continued to rip through the lower order, with Oliver Freckingham also earning a wicket, as the hosts were skittled out for just 97 runs.

Griffiths finished on figures of 5 for 20 off 16 overs, Warrington 4 for 48 off 17.

Nantwich secured all 25 points, and stretches their unbeaten league record to 10 games.

They welcome Toft to Whitehouse Lane this Saturday (August 19), knowing victory could close the gap to just five points on the Cheshire County Premier leaders if Chester slip up away at second placed Alderley Edge.
