beam street closure burst water main

A burst water main flooded Beam Street in Nantwich, causing chaos for drivers and shoppers.

The incident happened at around 8am today on Beam Street, close to the Oatmarket and Swinemarket area.

Water was seen gushing up through sewer grids outside the row of shops near Barnardo’s and Subway stores.

Cheshire East highways and United Utilities engineers were sent to the scene and had to close off the road.

Engineers are now working on repairs and one lane of Beam Street in Swinemarket remains closed.

The burst comes just weeks after a major incident on Middlewich Road near Alvaston Hall, which caused the A530 to be shut for six weeks.
