A Christmas Floral Extravaganza at St Bartholomew’s Church in Church Minshull, drew crowds of visitors from far and wide, raising £3,000.

Run by Wistaston and District Flower Club in partnership with St Bartholomew’s Church, ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ floral event showcased 12 arrangements from award-winning Cheshire florists.

Event organiser Jean Jones said: “We’re so grateful the event was well supported by residents and businesses from the local area.

“From the designers, sponsors and volunteers through to the children from St Oswald’s Primary School, everyone rallied to make the event a phenomenal success.”

For three days, St Bartholomew’s Church was home to a floral spectacular with each arrangement representing one of the gifts from the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ song.

Highlights include the ‘Eight Maids A Milking’ arrangement by Jacqui Owen from Fairytale Flowers which featured a milking lady made from wood and pinecones and a wreath decorated with cow bells.

Students from Reaseheath College incorporated a giant megaphone into their interpretation of ‘Four Calling Birds’ while Minshull’s Nursery used a stunning colour scheme of cream, white and gold to depict ‘Six Geese A Laying’.

Local artist Lucy Lockwood also performed mellow Christmas songs while visitors enjoyed the floral exhibits on the Saturday.

The event culminated in an auction in which the displays were auctioned off to the highest bidders.

John Headon, St Bartholomew’s Church Warden, said: “It’s a rare treat for our beautiful church to become the stage for such a stunning floral exhibition.

“The arrangements were magnificent and we were delighted to share them with visitors from across the North West.”

The profits from the £3,000 raised will be split equally between St Bartholomew’s Church and Wistaston and District Flower Club.
