Great Get Together - stapeley community hall, parish council

Stapeley and District Parish Council is joining the national “The Great Get Together” event on June 24 in memory of murdered MP Jo Cox.

The event takes place at Stapeley Community Hall on Pear Tree Field on June 24, from 2pm to 6pm.

There will be food and refreshments, performances by local musicians , and fund-raising for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Local groups and organisations can also reserve a table in the hall to raise their profile, promote their activities and attract new members or supporters.

Cllr Matthew Theobald, Chairman of the Parish Council, said: “This is the first time we have organised such an event in Stapeley and Batherton.

“We hope it will bring the community together for a relaxing afternoon enjoying food, music and entertainment in the company of friends and family.

“If all goes well, this could become an annual event that everyone can look forward to.”

Cllr Theobald encouraged residents and their friends to put the date in their diaries.

He added: “If you ‘do’ social media, please visit the Facebook event and sign up – so that we get an idea of how many people to cater for.

“Also, if you have any particular dietary needs, do let us know.”

Anyone interested in promoting their group should contact the council clerk Carol Jones so a space can be reserved.
