wrenbury dads coast to coast

Four dads from Wrenbury have raised thousands of pounds for Wingate Children’s Centre after cycling the iconic ‘Coast to Coast’ route from Workington in Cumbria to Sunderland.

Tom Robinson, Oliver Caunce, Josh Walker and Scott Heirene, plus support driver Scott Caunce, took on the gruelling challenge which saw them pedal through the Lake District National Park.

It followed months of training and involved cycling 135 miles in 27 degress, and climbing more than 10,000 ft.

Together, they have raised more than £3,000 for the Wingate Centre, which aims to brighten the lives of children with disabilities from the local area and beyond through respite holidays and sport and recreational activities.

Dad Tom said: “I am privileged to live in a village where the community pulls together to create very special moments in time to help great causes.

“One I couldn’t resist taking part in was to raise funds for the Wingate Centre, a truly incredible local charity.

“The opportunities and support that they provide for children with disabilities are exceptional and we were very proud to be able to fundraise for such a worthy, local cause.”

Catherine Cook, Wingate Centre marketing and fundraising manager, said: “We are so very proud of our Wrenbury dads for taking on and smashing this incredible endurance challenge to raise money to support children with disabilities.

“£3,000 is a significant sum of money to us and without the support of people like our Wrenbury dads we simply couldn’t continue to brighten the lives of children with disabilities.

“If you are up for a challenge and want to make a difference too, please get in touch today!”
