Two masked men armed with a baseball bat and machete attacked a couple in their own home in Crewe, Cheshire Police said.

The incident, being treated as an aggravated burglary, happened when the offenders broke in and demanded money from the couple in Remer Street.

They then assaulted both occupants, a man and a woman, causing serious injuries before escaping with a quantity of cash.

The offenders were wearing dark clothing and it happened at around 11.30pm on September 7.

Det Sgt Martin Caldwell said: “This was a very distressing ordeal for the two occupants and I’d urge anyone who has any information about the burglary to contact police.”
