Gateway - Tough Mudder challenge

A Nantwich electronic component firm has helped raise almost £500 for a hospice by tackling the gruelling Tough Mudder North West challenge.

Four staff from Gateway Electronic Components on Beam Heath Way took part in the event at Cholmondeley Castle over a 10-mile course and 20 obstacles to raise funds for Hope House Children’s Hospices.

Gateway’s team for four consisted of Sam Cotton and Tom Wright, both IT Assistants from Crewe, Richard Dunning the IT Manager, and Ceri Bennett a Sales Administrator.

Sam said: “I had been saying I wanted to take part in this event for a couple of years now, and it was my line manager Richard who eventually convinced me.

“We put an ask out to the rest of the team and were delighted to have Ceri and Tom join us too.”

Richard added: “I often help out at events like this across the country and in particularly the Great swim series.

“It’s great to see people challenging themselves, especially for charities and rewarding helping them along the way.

“We chose to support Hope House as it’s a local charity and knew we would be helping local children and their families.”

Hope House Children’s Hospices Area Fundraiser Hannah Robinson said: “We need to raise in excess of £6 million a year to support all the children and families we help from across Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales.

“It’s so sad three children die each week in our area from an incurable illness but we can only afford to reach and help one of those children.

“Every penny counts and the support of businesses such as the Gateway really is vital to us.

“We are so grateful to the team taking on this challenge for us and appreciate the time and effort that goes in to events like this, especially the training and preparation beforehand.”
