Leighton Hospital bosses are missing out on more than £2 million of funding after A&E demand soared to record-breaking levels over the past year.

Fresh figures released by Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust show Leighton Hospital has failed to meet the national four-hour waiting time target for A&E every month from September 2017 to August 2018.

Nantwich restaurant owner sentenced in court for £68,000 tax fraud

The owner of former Nantwich restaurant Red Melon has been sentenced for a £68,000 tax scam.

Ahmed Talukdar, 48, of Lime Tree Avenue, Crewe, owned the popular Red Melon restaurant in Welsh Row before it closed in 2015.

Tom Oliphant ended his maiden Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship campaign with a first ever fastest lap in the series and a hard-fought points finish at Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

Tarporley-born Oliphant, who was crowned the Ginetta GT4 Supercup champion at the circuit in 2015, built up his confidence in his Ciceley Motorsport prepared Mercedes A-Class in two fine practice sessions.

The youngsters were actively involved in a range of practical activities – from making chocolate creatures to designing and building Lego robots.
