Two people who died in a horror smash on the A530 near Nantwich have been named as John and Rosemary Patterson, from Nantwich.

The couple were travelling on Whitchurch Road in their black Citroen C4 when it was in collision with a DAF box van.

The incident happened at around 1.45pm on Friday November 2 in Newhall.

Rosemary, 63, was confirmed dead at the scene. John, 65, was flown to Royal Stoke Hospital by air ambulance but died a short time later of his injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage which could help find out why two people died in a horror crash on the A530 near Nantwich.

Their next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the van was taken to Leighton Hospital as a precautionary measure and has since been released.

Inquiries are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have witnessed the collision or may have dashcam footage of the stretch of road at around the time of the accident.
