PSA testing at civic hall

Leighton Hospital Prostate Cancer Support Group is returning to Nantwich to run a PSA testing day.

The hall will open from 9.30am until 1pm on Saturday April 13 for men between the ages 45-75 to have a PSA blood test.

The test can detect early signs of prostate problems and tackle potential cancer early. Appointments are not necessary.

The event is to be held at Nantwich Civic Hall and is aimed at helping raise awareness of Prostate problems, including Prostate Cancer, which is the most common cancer in men in the UK.

Men are invited to have a PSA test carried out by trained phlebotomists.

They will take a small sample of blood for analysis, with results being sent out 7-10 days later.

The Prostate Cancer Support Group request a donation of £10 for the test to help fund their activities.

Local group organiser Kevin Hammersley said: “The Support Group has grown from small beginnings – in 1998 two patients met to discuss their condition, treatment and concerns – and has developed into an association of self-help in the area.

“The organisation is managed locally for men with Prostate Cancer, their families and those who are interested in improving the care and support of those affected by this form of cancer.”

Are these tests not available any more
Before covid my partner went regularly for this test but have not heard of any local venues doing this any more

I went last year. Had a positive diagnosis. I am now recovering well – thanks to early detection at Nantwich Civic Hall.
Men!! Do go along, ( even if or especially if you have no symptoms). I didn’t have any but it was caught early and I needed no surgery, just radiotherapy.
    No brainer, really.
