Nantwich Town have secured the signing of goalkeeper Greg Hall from their Cheshire rivals Witton Albion for the 2019-20 season.

Hall is a former four-time North West Counties Football League Goalkeeper of the Year.

And the experienced stopper has spent his long career in and around the non league scene.

He was part of the Glossop North End side that narrowly lost the FA Vase final to South Shields in 2015 at Wembley, in front of a nearly 10,000 crowd.

He had a successful 2018-19 season at Wincham Park where he was unlucky to miss out on the Evo-Stik Premier Division’s Team of the Season as Witton were close to reaching the play-offs.

The keeper has also spent time with Radcliffe, Maine Road, Trafford and Ashton United and joins with a wealth of experience between the sticks.

Nantwich manager Dave Cooke said: “Greg is a keeper that’s impressed me every time I’ve watched him.

“His record last season speaks for itself, and we have been blessed with good quality keepers recently with Will [Jaaskelainen] and Fabian [Spiess].

“Greg will add to that. He is great in communication and very passionate about his football, and I think that he is a perfect fit for us.”

Jaaskelainen looks set to get plenty of chances at his home club Crewe Alexandra in League Two after their number one Ben Garratt left the club this summer.
