Andrew Pam and Mary - RSPCA donation

Rising Sun Nurseries in Wistaston has donated £4,000 to RSPCA Crewe, Nantwich and District Branch.

The money will help launch the charity’s fundraising drive for a much-needed cat isolation unit.

Proprietors Peter and Mary Thomas, and son Andrew, are long-time supporters of the local RSPCA charity and are great cat lovers.

Beetroot, their cat, rules the nurseries on Middlewich Road and is well known to all their customers.

The money was raised through sales from their second-hand shop within the garden centre.

Pam Parkes, RSPCA branch chair, said: “We need a dedicated space to care for poorly or injured cats that need completely separate short-term accommodation, away from other animals.

“The cat isolation unit will cost around £15,000 to construct and will accommodate up to four cats.

“As an independent local charity, we are so grateful to Mary, Peter and Andrew for all their support over the years and for this fantastic donation, which takes us a long way towards our goal.”

If you would like to contribute to the charity’s cat pen project and the support of the cats in their care, text catpen 5 to 70085 to donate £5 (you can choose any amount between 1 and 20 – e.g. texting catpen 15 will donate £15).

Note the text will incur a standard text message charge.
