manslaughter - Adam Lovatt and his wife, Clare (1)

A second man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of Audlem dad Adam Lovatt, police have confirmed.

A manslaughter charge was added to the indictment against Nicolas Hill, 35, of Moorsfield Avenue, Audlem at Liverpool Crown Court.

Hill, and Samuel Thorpe, 24, of Annions Lane, Wynbunbury, will now both stand trial on January 6, 2020 for the manslaughter of Adam Lovatt.

Hill also faces one count of assisting an offender, the offence he was originally charged with.

Both men have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

The charges relate to an incident on Friday May 25 2018 on Shropshire Street in Audlem.

Mr Lovatt, 45, (pictured with wife Clare) was found with serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Stoke hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Mr Lovatt, who worked at Bookers Retail, also helped wife Clare run the Finefoodies Deli store in Audlem.

Two other people were initially arrested in connection with the incident.

A 44-year-old man from Market Drayton was given a conditional caution for a public order offence.

No further action was taken against a 58-year-old woman, also from Market Drayton.
