Students at Brine Leas in Nantwich are celebrating another excellent set of GCSE results.
Over 60% of Brine Leas students attained a strong pass (Grade 5 or higher) in both English and Mathematics.
And nearly 80% gained a standard pass (Grade 4+) in both English and Mathematics against the national average of 67%.
The school said 28% of GCSE grades from all subjects were Grade 7 or above, with a remarkable 7.5% being Grade 9, which is in excess of the former A* grade.
200 students achieved at least eight full GCSE qualifications, with 186 obtaining nine and 32 securing 10 full GCSEs.
Two students received Grade 9 results in each of their 10 GCSE.
The school has again attained positive ‘value added’ across the whole cohort.
This means that Brine Leas students have done better, across all subjects, than the national averages.
English, Mathematics and Science all made positive ‘value added’ and performed significantly in excess of the national standards.
Twenty subjects obtained the most challenging, and hardest to achieve, Grade 9s.
In Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Geography, Religious Education and Graphic Products at least 10% of the results were Grade 9s.
Religious Education secured 39% Grade 9s, Computer Science 25% and Geography 20%.
Brine Leas headteacher David Cole said: “Students and staff at Brine Leas have once again produced some amazing results which is 100% down to their hard work, effort and commitment.
“I am pleased that so many students have achieved their potential and will be moving on to A Levels, BTecs, apprenticeships and employment.
“The top grades are particularly pleasing, but just as important to me are those students who achieved any grade from 9 to 1 if they reached their potential in doing so.
“We wish all our students well, whether their destination is Brine Leas Sixth Form, specialist colleges or training.”
