GCSE students at Malbank School and Sixth Form College in Nantwich are celebrating on results day today (August 22).

They have been joined by staff and parents with a number of subject areas posting strong results.

Amy Heath gained excellent grades including 3 grade 9s, 6 grade 8s and 1 grade 7.

And Harry Ford made outstanding progress adding an average of 3 grades in every subject above his targets.

Twins Sameer and Sahir Rahman, Sophie Oakden, Gracie Lambert and Katie Tomsett gained on average two extra grades per subject.

There were some excellent results in GCSE PE with 80% of candidates getting at least a grade 6.

In Polish, 100% of students gained a 7 or above.

The excellent results in English last year were matched in Language and even better in Literature with 11% more students gaining a strong pass.

Improvements were also seen in Biology 97%, Chemistry 90% and Physics 89% at grade 4 and above. Results were also stronger in Maths, RS, Music and Spanish.

Heateacher Jeannette Walker said: “When students and staff who have worked hard, not just in lessons but at home, after school and in holiday classes, get the grades they deserve, it is so rewarding.”

Head of Upper school Chris Yew was delighted with how students have performed.

He said: “When you have watched students develop into great young people over the five years, it’s fantastic to see them moving in to our Sixth Form College with good foundations to build on their futures.”

Malbank Sixth Form College will welcome its next cohort of students enrolling for year 12 at 10am on Tuesday September 3.
