Blood Brothers - singer Lyn Paul as Mrs Johnstone (previous cast production) (2) - Copy (2) (1)

Blood Brothers makes a return to Crewe this week – and more than 4,000 people will hear the story of the Johnstone twins during its term at the Lyceum.

I’ve been lucky enough to see Blood Brothers a couple of times now, and each time I’ve noticed the amazing atmosphere which surrounds this show.

Partly due to the loyal and returning audience, but also due to the outstanding quality of this production.

Opening night on Tuesday didn’t disappoint. The cast and crew were outstanding.

Like others in the audience, I became totally immersed into the storyline, carried along with the emotion and incredible music.

Due to illness, there were some cast changes.

Chloe Taylor played Mrs Johnstone, and Gemma Brodrick played Mrs Lyons, both were fantastic, and stepped into the roles with complete ease and professionalism.

Alexander Patmore was great as Mickey, as was Joel Benedict who played Eddie.

I also enjoyed performances from Robbie Scotcher as the Narrator, and Daniel Taylor who played Sammy.

The musical numbers are another part of what makes Blood Brothers such a special show.

Marilyn Monroe and Tell Me It’s Not True are both sounded great.

In this production I particularly enjoying watching the well thought out routines and choreography for Kids Game and Miss Jones.

The audience gave a standing ovation, and it was well deserved.

It was a wonderful show and a magical piece of theatre. If you’re lucky enough to have a ticket for this show I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
