Stapeley Broad Lane School Choir 2019 (1)

A Nantwich school choir has been picked to sing at “Stars in Their Eyes” presenter Matthew Kelly’s Spirit of Christmas celebration at Chester Cathedral.

Stapeley Broad Lane School Choir came top of a contest to win the chance to sing at the event for an audience of 1,000 people, including TV, Film and Stage stars at the annual fundraiser in Chester.

Stapeley’s young choristers were even more amazed when their choir got selected to sing at this year’s Cheshire Emergency Services Christmas Concert as well – also at Chester Cathedral.

Headteacher Ian Shackleton said: “Music forms a large part of extra-curricular activities for pupils.

“The whole school is really proud that the choir has been chosen to represent the best of primary school singing at these two prestigious events.”

Stapeley teacher and choir leader Catherine Acklam said: “I’m really proud of the children for getting to Chester Cathedral.

“Anyone wanting to hear the award-winning choir locally can hear them at St Mary’s Church Nantwich on December 4 at the annual NSPCC Carol Concert starting at 7pm.

“Tickets, available on the door are £5, in aid of NSPCC.”
