Santas from across Cheshire will be donning their coats, hats and boots for the annual Nantwich Santa Dash in aid of charity.

This year’s event is on Sunday December 15 and will help raise thousands of pounds for Hope House Children’s Hospice.

Staff of Tarporley-based RUK Group, who are sponsoring this year’s Dash, are also getting into the spirit as they prepare to tackle the event.

Santas are being asked to take a day off and tackle a dash through the centre of Nantwich to raise Christmas stockings full of cash to support the hospice.

Scores of Santas will be tackling either a 2.5km or a 5km route in a sponsored event to raise money for Hope House Children’s Hospices.

Hospice area fundraiser Nicola Sciarrillo is hoping to see Santas from across Cheshire, North Wales and Shropshire don their red Father Christmas’s outfits and help raised funds for the charity.

She said: “The response we have had to this year’s event has been amazing with plenty of Santa’s ready to tackle the 2.5km run or the longer 5km event.

“Both start in Nantwich town centre and end at Town Square.

“The routes are suitable for all ages and anyone wishing to run, jog or walk will be equally welcomed and participants can dress in their own fancy dress.

“It costs just £5 to enter and children are free but must have an adult running with them. Everyone will get a medal at the end and of course a mince pie!

“Those taking part need to be at Town Square ready to warm up at 10.45am.

“And we are so grateful to RUK Group for their continued support and for yet again sponsoring the event.

“It’s vital we continue to raise funds to support local children and families when they need us most. No one should suffer the death of a child alone.

“Sadly, three local children die each week, and currently Hope House can only afford to help one of these families. We are committed to changing this.”

RUK Group proprietor Simon Marsden says he and fellow business owner Neil Clarke are delighted to support Hope House Children’s Hospices.

Simon said: “This is our third year of sponsoring the Santa Dash and we are once again delighted to be able to help what is a wonderful and very worthy cause.

“A director who has now left the RUK Group lived close to Hope House in Oswestry and after visiting the children’s hospice some years ago got us all involved in raising funds and we have enjoyed a close affinity ever since.

“We want to see as many Santa’s in Nantwich as possible. Whether you live in Chester, Oswestry, North Wales or for that matter, anywhere else, please support this event and let’s make it a great Christmas for everyone at Hope House Children’s Hospices.

“We are aiming to have at least 10 members of RUK Group staff taking part and I’ll be doing the 5k run myself.

“Hope House is a wonderful charity and one we are delighted to support. We raise money throughout the year for Hope House. We have a swear box in our Tarporley head office with donations going to Hope House – I won’t say how much that raises each year!

“We also do a bucket collection at our annual golf day which also raises a considerable sum of money which also goes to Hope House.

“Now let’s get those Santa outfits on and lets all raise what we can for this amazing charity.”
