Festive Crewe - Salisbury Avenue (1) (1)

Keen photographer Jonathan White has been out and about once again to capture the dazzling display of festive homes across South Cheshire.

These images show families have been busy as ever decorating their properties and helping to light up Christmas for young and old.

Jonathan said: “I enjoy the Christmas lights in the Crewe and Nantwich town centres, but I also really enjoy the over-the-top Christmas lights and decorations – including the occasional inflatable decoration and light show – that some local residents setup each year.

“Their electricity bills must be sky high, but they never fail to bring a smile to my face!

“My most favourite Christmas houses this year in Crewe are located in Alton Street, Broad Street, Carlisle Street, Claughton Avenue, Davenport Avenue, Jesmond Crescent, Marple Crescent, Melford Close, Moreton Road, Ravenscroft Road, Salisbury Avenue, Vincent Street, along with the Christmas tree at Oxley’s Funeral Services on Market Close.

“Congratulations to Crewe Town Council for a second consecutive year for the brilliantly unique ‘Lumen – Crewe’s Night of Lights’ switch-on at various locations in the town centre.

“My favourites in Wistaston are in Carroll Drive, Freshfields, Kemble Close, Lear Drive, Merrivale Road, Milton Drive, Park Drive, Rope Bank Avenue, Shelley Drive and Westfield Drive (say hello to the gnomes!)

“My favourites in Nantwich are in Hawksey Drive, Queens Drive, Welsh Row and Richmond Nantwich (Village Centre). There are also excellent lights in the town centre courtesy of Nantwich Town Council.

“My favourites in Willaston are in Coppice Road and Derwent Close.

“My favourites in Shavington are all in Burlea Drive – well worth a visit.

“I must also give a special mention to the ‘Weston Christmas Light Display.”

  1. Just wondering why this colossal waste of fossil fuel-derived energy should continue to be celebrated so uncritically. It’s surely possible to enjoy Christmas without adding to the climate change crisis?
One day people will get it – hopefully, not too late for their grandchildren and their grandchildren’s children.

    • How do you know where people’s electricity is sorced from.

MERRY CHRISTMAS,or what ever faith you follow, enjoy the season
