Briscoe's Dairy milkman stabbed in Tarporley

A milkman has been attacked and stabbed by teen thugs as he delivered his milk in Tarporley.

The victim was on his morning round for Briscoe’s Dairy this morning when he was attacked.

His employer said he was approached at about 4.45am by two male youths aged about 15/16 years old on Eaton Lane, Tarporley, close to the junction with Cobblers Cross.

They tried to steal goods and then stabbed him in the stomach before running off.

A dairy spokesperson said: “They asked him for a lift and tried to steal goods off the back of his float, but when he refused one of the youths has stabbed him in the stomach then made off on foot.

“They were asking for a lift to Tiverton, so obviously local.

“This is someone’s son, someone’s brother and someone will know who has done this and they need to be caught and punished, as no one should ever have to go through what he did this morning.

“He has a nasty wound to the stomach but he is okay and even wanted to finish off his round.

“Let’s get this scum caught and off the streets.”

North West Ambulance were called to the scene and paramedics treated the wounded milkman.

Briscoes Dairy is based in Tarvin and has been delivering milk to customers for more than 50 years.

The incident has led to an out-pouring of anger and has been shared thousands of times on social media.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: “Just before 5am today (Friday 31 January) officers were called following reports of a man being stabbed on Eaton Road, Tarporley.

“It is believed that two males attempted to steal some milk before the incident.

“The man is believed to have minor injuries.

“Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting IML 625126.”
