British GT Jordan Witt - GT3 racing driver from Nantwich

Nantwich GT3 racing driver Jordan Witt has signed a deal with top team Barwell Motorsport to remain with the squad for the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.

The 29-year-old impressed in his first season racing a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO with Barwell last year in the then Blancpain Endurance Cup.

Now he is looking forward to putting everything into practice as he sets his sights on a challenge for Silver Cup honours.

Last season Witt achieved his maiden Silver class victory in the GT3 championship during the blue riband twice-round-the-clock Total 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium.

This year, Witt will form part of a three driver line-up alongside British racer Alex MacDowall and Danish driver Frederik Schandorff.

“I’m feeling really confident for the new season,” said Witt, who is backed in 2020 by Vibe British Audio and Yelir World.

“I started to get to know the Lamborghini last year.

“It took some time to get used to the rear of the car moving around – it’s unlike anything I’d raced before – but we made good progress and obviously won the class at the Spa 24 Hours which was amazing.

“Barwell is, honestly, a true top-level team. There was no question where I wanted to be this year after working with the guys so well last season.

“They’re only there to win and you never question any decisions they make, it’s a fantastic team.

“I’m aiming to be on the podium, but the main aim is to stay consistent with good points – with the big focus on the extra points at Paul Ricard and Spa.”

Cheshire racer Witt first tasted success in GT racing when winning the GTC class in British GT in 2011 with Chevron Racing.

Also competing in GT Cup, Witt then switched to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship where he performed strongly in the Pro-Am and A1 classes.

His breakthrough year came in 2016 where, at the wheel of a privately entered Bentley Continental GT3, he dominated the GT Cup to secure championship victory – taking no fewer than 19 race wins along the way during a busy season.

Witt’s first official outing of 2020 with Barwell will come during the pre-season test at Paul Ricard in France on March 12-13.

The opening round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup then takes place over the weekend April 18-19 at Monza in Italy.

From there, the championship will visit Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit on May 9-10 before the six-hour ‘into the night’ race at Paul Ricard on Saturday May 30.
