Cheque presentation - Weston Lights Display

Weston Christmas Lights organiser Graham Witter has handed over a whopping £32,540 cheque to Donna Louise Hospice.

Graham visited the hospice last week to formally hand over a cheque for the record-breaking amount.

It follows a month-long fundraising effort by Graham and his family who transformed their family home and garden into a spectacular winter wonderland.

The Weston Christmas Light Display has now raised a staggering £124,850 for The Donna Louise Hospice since the display first began in 2013.

Graham said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be presenting such a fantastic amount to the Donna Louise and I’d like to say a huge thank you to everybody who visited my Community fundraiser in December.

“I’d also like to say a special thank you to our event partner Whitby Morrison, and our principal sponsor Swansway Motor Group, and to all other local businesses who sponsored and supported me.

“Without their remarkable support – we would not have achieved this milestone.”

The Donna Louise provided respite care for Graham’s sister Jessica before she died in December 2015.

Simon Fuller, Chief Executive of The Donna Louise, said: “Graham and his family work so hard to make the Weston Christmas Light Display such a huge success.

“His planning and preparation begins in the summer and it’s a mammoth task to put up all the lights and decorations.

“We’re very grateful for his dedication and this is a truly fantastic amount of money, which will pay for a care support worker at the Hospice for a year, as well as this year’s training programme for our care staff.

“On behalf of everyone at the hospice, I’d like to say a great big thank you to Graham and his family.”
