ice block - badger avenue and broad street

Police are hunting a gang of who threw an ice block at a passing car, smashing the driver’s windscreen.

The group launched their attack on a car as it drove along Badger Avenue in Crewe.

Officers are urging witnesses to come forward after the gang of three man and woman, aged in early 20s, ran off towards the cemetery.

It happened between 2.05pm and 2.10pm yesterday (Sunday January 24) when the female driver was driving along Badger Avenue.

Just before she got to the lights at the junction of Broad Street, the block of ice was thrown causing her windscreen to smash and the wing mirror to be knocked off the car.

Inspector Andy Smith said: “The shock of the window smashing nearly caused her to crash her car.

“This was an incredibly dangerous and stupid thing to do and could have caused a serious collision.

“I’d urge anyone who was driving past at the time and captured this on dashcam to contact us so that we can find those responsible.”
