Huxley CE Primary School

Staff and parents at a small village school near Tarporley are celebrating a recovery plan which will help keep the school open.

Residents have campaigned to save Huxley CE Primary school and Cheshire West and Chester has now approved the recovery plan and the school is now ready for a new beginning.

The success is thanks to six months of intensive team work by a highly competent team made up of members of the community, the Head and the newly formed Board of Governors.

Besides the solid recovery plan which has met with approval by the Local Authority, a large part of the success must be attributed to the enormous surge of support from the local community surrounding villages, Parish Councils and from the constituency MP, Edward Timpson.

Cllr Mike Jones, newly elected Chair of the Governing Body has expressed his satisfaction at the news.

“We are delighted that Huxley School, with its long and excellent history, has been given a new lease of life.

“The Plan for the school will bring back pupil numbers, financial stability and sustainability of the school.

“We look forward to this new chapter in its history. As soon as the Government ruling on the current Covid situation allows schools to re-open, Huxley will be opening wide its doors to full time and flexi pupils.”
