Nigel Stonier performs with pianist and Thea Gilmore at The Crown Ballroom

Organisers of the annual Nantwich Words and Music festival are to hold a three-day event in June.

They say the event is taking place in The Crown Ballroom in Nantwich town centre on June 25-27.

All current Covid restrictions are set to be lifted by June 21, allowing indoor entertainment venues to reopen once more.

They say the event will be “Covid secure”.

Nigel Stonier, one of the organisers of the festival, said: “After consultation with our venues and local authorities, and much deliberation, we’re delighted to announce a special Words And Music weekend from June 25 to 27.

“We are staging three shows at The Crown Ballroom – one on Friday June 25 and two on Sunday June 27.

“These will be Covid secure events. We are anticipating running them with social distancing in place, though if the government road map does roll out as promised we’ll hope to open the venue up to normal capacity.

“At all times our priority will be the safety of performers, staff and audience members.

“We will of course be following the latest guidelines and restrictions at every juncture.”

They say there will also be a series of workshops to run in Nantwich on Saturday June 26 and Sunday June 27 respectively.

“Details of the bill will be released shortly. It sees the return of some Words & Music favourites, also some new performers to Nantwich,” they added.

“And, of course, it will represent everything we have always stood for – an eclectic, diverse celebration of original music and spoken word.”
