art trail exhibition

A “meet the artist” viewing of the Tarporley Art Trail and a six-day group exhibition is being held at The Swan at Tarporley.

The event is part of the Tarporley Big Weekend, where community organisations join forces to allow visitors to browse the village’s independent shops, enjoy performances from local acts and follow an art trail through the village.

The Swan has joined forces with The Craft Room in Tarporley to be the end destination of its “Art Trail”.

Money raised from the event will go towards Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, one of the few remaining hospitals dedicated to the wellbeing of the community and surrounding villages.

Tarporley’s Art Trail will take place September 10-16, with a private view on Friday September 10 at 7pm.

Tickets are £20 and attendees can meet the artists, view artwork first and enjoy canopies and fizz.

Up to 39 artists will exhibit a piece of their work in the group exhibition at The Swan.

Work will be available for sale with 15% of each sale also going to charity.

Art will be displayed in shops up and down the high street.

Many young students of The Craft Room will be showcasing their paintings, with children aged from 6 up to 13 getting involved.

Woody Barlow, managing director of Bear Inns, owner of The Swan said: “We’re very proud to be hosting the exhibition at The Swan and to not only be supporting our local artists, but the War Memorial Hospital and all the amazing work that they do for the community.”

Rachael Carr, owner of The Craft Room in Tarporley, added: “I’m really looking forward to seeing my youngest student’s artwork on display and also curating an exciting body of work by Cheshire artists to fill the high street for the Big Weekend.”

Rachel Wright, Chair of the Trustees at Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, said: “We’re so grateful for the support from Tarporley businesses such as The Swan and The Craft Room – they are helping to raise crucial funds for us, and in such a wonderfully creative way too.”

The exhibition is free to enter between 10-3pm from Saturday 11th September to Thursday 16th September at The Swan.
